You may not find Jerry Springer here but you can find a local Sarasota run that will foster community, friendship, fun and maybe some beer

Running groups are a great way to take some accountability, foster new relationships with other runners and become part of a community.  Here is the most updated list of local runs in the Sarasota area as of 2018.  

Monday:  

1.  Centennial Park Downtown Venice 6:00 AM 

(https://veniceflarunners.weebly.com/training.html). Roughly 1 hour ranging from 3-6 miles.  All ages and paces welcome.  Head to a local coffee shop after the run to engage with other runners.

2.  Big Top Brewing Co. 6:30 PM.  Check in at the brewery and run to and through Celery Fields nearby making your run as long or short as you like.  Earn prizes every 10 runs. $4 core beers and food truck await you after your hard work (http://www.bigtopbrewing.com/event/weekly-celery-fields-brew-run-busted-chef/?age-verified=bf175fb81e)

3.  Fit2Run Downtown Sarasota 6:30 PM (https://www.fit2run.com/training-programs). F2R Utilize Jeff Galloway’s proven Run, Walk, Run method. Fill a punch card and earn prizes.  All levels welcome.

 

Tuesday:

1.  Manasota Track Club Group meet at Earth Origins Market Place 5:30 AM (http://manasotatrackclub.org/group-runs/).  Approximately 5 mile run to Siesta Key Beach and back.

2.  Manasota Track Club Members Only Track workout 6:15 AM.  Alternate sites between Payne Park and Brookside Middle School and last week of month at Venice Gene Whipp Track. 

3.  Venice Runners core/speed workout at Boys and Girls Club Venice 6:30 AM (https://veniceflarunners.weebly.com/training.html).  Schedule does change weekly so contact for details.

4.  Manasota Track Club Group Siesta Key South Parking Lot 6:00 PM.  Long run is 8 miles round trip to Turtle Beach however shorter distances welcome.

5.  Craft Growlers to Go Lakewood Ranch 6:30 PM (https://www.facebook.com/events/546123122236099/).  Runners and walkers welcome, distances ranging from 2-3 miles.  Enjoy craft beer after the run.

6.  Fit2Run University Town Center 6:30 PM (https://www.fit2run.com/training-programs).  F2R Utilize Jeff Galloway’s proven Run, Walk, Run method.  Join for a fun run around the Benderson loop, all levels are welcomed. Runners can win free Fit2Run merchanidise the more they participate.  Water with Nuun and free smoothies after the run often provided.

 

Wednesday:

1.  Centennial Park Downtown Venice 6:00 AM

2.  Mr. Beerys Hump Day 5K Gulf Gate 6:00 PM (https://www.mrbeeryssrq.com/calendar/).   Runners and walkers welcome to this 5K. Get your card punched after each run and collect prizes for every 10 runs you do.  Water and towels provided after the run.  Chance to imbibe craft beer after the run.  

3.  Rover Runners various locations in Sarasota usually meeting at or near a drinking establishment 6:00 PM. Runs approximately 50 minutes with variety of paces and distances ending at the establishment for a beer with other runners.  (Email Buzz at roverrunners@gmail.com for a monthly schedule or join FB group)

4.  Fit2Run Downtown Sarasota 6:30 PM.  

 

Thursday:

1.  Venice Runners core/speed workout at Boys and Girls Club Venice 6:30 AM.  Schedule does change weekly so contact for details.

2.  Fleet Feet Downtown Sarasota 6:00 PM  (http://fleetfeetsarasota.com/training/thursday-fun-runs). Run from store through local neighborhood.  Variety of pace and distances welcome.  Some run over the bridge.  Incentive punch card for every 10 runs and weekly special guests and themes are common.

Friday:

1.  Centennial Park Downtown Venice 6:00 AM.  See above for details.

 

Saturday:

1.  Fit2Run Downtown Sarasota 5:30 AM.  See above for details.

2.  Southside School Osprey 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM with Manasota Track Club.

3.  Centennial Park Downtown Venice 6:00 AM for long run.  See above for details.

4.  Marina Jacks parking lot 6:30 AM with Manasota Track Club

 

Sunday:  You really need to learn to rest already however...

1.  Fit2Run University Town Center 7:00 AM.  See above for details.

2.  Scullers Draft House, University Park 10:00 AM.  The route is a 5k course can be varied for your desired length.  After the run every runner will get to enjoy a BOGO free drink of their choice and 15% off Anna's deli next door.  Age is 21 and up due to this being a bar.
